Reading Probate Solicitors

At Chatham Chambers Solicitors, our solicitors focus on helping our clients with a wide variety of issues that affect their lives. Among these issues, helping our clients protect their assets and choices regarding finances and health care are arguably the most important.

Berkshire Wills Solicitors

Most of us have a good idea who we would like to receive our estate after our death. However, many people put off making a will.

At Chatham Chambers Solicitors, we make this process simple and quick. We take instructions on what our client wishes to happen with his or her estate. At the same time, we provide advice on the following within our fixed fee price:

  • Whether there are any potential claims against your estate and, if so, what can be done to avoid this likelihood
  • Inheritance tax liabilities
  • Drafting your will
  • Reporting on all aspects of the purchase
  • How to properly execute your will (we are available to serve as witnesses)
  • Capacity to make your will and whether any evidence of capacity should be obtained
Where clients have difficulty with mobility we are happy to arrange a home visit at no extra charge.

Probate

We provide a comprehensive probate service, acting on all probate cases whether there is a will or no will. If there is no will, the estate must be distributed under the intestacy rules. We are able to provide a quotation of how much our costs will be and are confident that we offer excellent value for your money with our professional approach.

Lasting Powers of Attorney

A Lasting Power of Attorney can be completed to ensure that you choose someone who is known as an solicitor. Your solicitor is someone that you appoint to make decisions on your behalf if you become unable to make decisions yourself.

There are two parts to a Lasting Power of Attorney, and clients may choose to complete both or just one of them:

  • Property and affairs
  • Personal welfare

A property and affairs Lasting Power of Attorney allows your chosen solicitor to make decisions on matters relating to your finances. For example, making sure that your bills are paid, pensions or benefits are collected on your behalf and controlling other financial matters.

A personal welfare Lasting Power of Attorney allows your chosen solicitor to make decisions on matters such as medical treatment that you receive and where you live.

Both solicitors are useful in case you become mentally incapable to make these decisions yourself.
